In the past couple of years, Croatia has become a new hotspot for tourists. Surrounded by beautiful beaches, delicious seafood and it’s infamous Game of Thrones scenes, it’s not hard to guess why Dubrovnik has become so popular. If its your first time to Europe, check out my tips on how to travel Europe and my travel tips TikTok series!
Getting There
Dubrovnik shines brightest during the summer, making it the perfect season to visit. The most convenient way to reach Dubrovnik is by taking a flight and then hopping into a cab from the airport (keep in mind that Croatia is not part of the European Union, so expect some passport control wait times). Alternatively, you can explore the possibility of cruises that include Dubrovnik as one of the stops.
What to Wear
As a vibrant beach town, Dubrovnik calls for light, loose-fitting clothing and an assortment of bathing suits. Embrace the relaxed coastal vibe and pack accordingly to make the most of your beachside adventures.
Where to Stay
Dubrovnik offers an array of accommodation options to suit every traveler’s preferences. For a local experience, I recommend considering an Airbnb slightly outside the city, near the Dubrovnik Yacht Club. This location offers the added benefit of a stunning local beach, providing picturesque views of the bridge and the bay.
Getting Around
Getting around Dubrovnik is a breeze thanks to its compact size. The local bus system is a reliable and efficient mode of transportation, given the city’s condensed layout. However, during the summer months, the buses can become overcrowded and hot. In such cases, I suggest taking advantage of Dubrovnik’s pedestrian-friendly streets and exploring on foot.

Note: be careful not to get ripped off when booking your tours. This happened to us when we did our boat tour as they promised it would be us on a private boat, only to find there were about 30 people on a 15 person boat.
What/Where to Eat & Drink
The staple foods of the Dalmatian coast are seafood, seafood and seafood. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Nautika Resturant
- Resturant Panoramica on Mount Srd (a tad touristy but still has great food and amazing sunset views)
- Orsan
- Gossip gelato (Chocolate and Coconut are my favorite!)
