Paris is one of those cities that you can visit over a hundred times and have a unique experience every time. It’s probably one of the most romantic cities in the world, filled with art, culture and tourists dressed in their 5 euro beret trying to get a cute pic in front of the Eiffel Tower (I would know because I was one of them). Other than being known for its famous landmarks & dangerously delicious croissants, Paris has a lot to offer, however, it can get tricky trying to navigate a big city. Here’s all you need to know for a long weekend in Paris.
Getting There
When it comes to reaching Paris, you have multiple options at your disposal. Whether you choose to fly, drive, or take the train, we have done all three and they are all manageable. We do recommend the train as the preferred option as its quick and cost effective. The main train station is near the city center and gives you access to the metro which will take you nearly anywhere you need to go. However, if flying is your choice, keep in mind that taxi’s and Uber can get expensive.
What to Wear
In Paris, where style reigns supreme, fashion becomes an integral part of your experience. Leave your sweatpants and leggings behind and embrace the city’s sartorial spirit. Remember, berets are not the typical French headwear, so opt for chic ensembles that exude sophistication. Shopping in Paris should be an activity and section of its own, you can check out my TikTok on favorite places to shop in Paris here and Shop Like a Local: 5 Essential Tips for Successful Shopping Abroad.
Where to Stay
With no shortage of charming neighborhoods, choosing the right area to stay depends on your preferences. Consider the picturesque Le Marais, nestled near Notre Dame, boasting quaint boutiques and delightful eateries. Alternatively, explore the Opera District or Montmartre. Avoid the exorbitant prices near the Eiffel Tower unless its on your bucket list!
Getting Around
Paris is surprisingly compact, making walking an ideal way to immerse yourself in its beauty. Major landmarks are conveniently close to one another, allowing for an enjoyable stroll. Uber or electric scooters are readily available for longer distances within the city, while the metro provides a reliable option during peak tourist seasons when traffic can be overwhelming.
